Yep, afraid so. Now I realise this will be very hard to believe if you've ridden out off road, locally as we did yesterday but its true.

The land owner is very keen and also very disappointed, he even entered himself in the race, but he has a business to maintain in these difficult times and this is only a bike race.

The problem is the land is reclaimed from an old quarry and the sub soil is almost totally clay. Right now its still waterlogged, with standing water on the main drags and in the woods. He can't get on the land to mow it for his own purposes never mind the work required for FNSS, and the forecast is heavy rain for tomorrow Thursday. The race will ruin the areas of his business used by small children for the whole holiday period.

I don't know if any of the other organisers can step in at such short notice, but for now can you please inform anyone who you think requires notifying that the race is OFF at Desborough and will not be re-scheduled. All pre-entry monies will be returned.

Once again from the organiser Paul Brown, Sorry.

Yes its still raining and the ground is just as water logged everywhere so your all wondering if this Fridays already re-arranged race will be yet another casualty. Organiser Paul Brown has decided he will make a definate decision on Wednesday.

"Yesterday Ed and I looked at the course at West Lodge (Ed is the landowner). We decided to wait until Wednesday to confirm wether this Friday's race will go ahead. Hopefully the weather will improve. I will be probably driving over on Wednesday to start setting up the quarry section, fingers crossed.     Cheers Brownie

Due to the recent very bad weather and other factors here is the latest re-scheduled race information.

Rugby Cosford Round Now rescheduled for Friday 13th July!..................(risky!!)

Treads at Delapre Park (Was  Irchester race) Is still on the original date but has a new venue.

This has a new venue it will be held in Delapre Park Northampton for the first time.

Location on Multimap is here  Entry is via London Road on the A508.

There is a park website here Delapre ABBEY, there might be a teashop open on the evening but they are not sure yet.

The Desboro Race has now been re-orgainsed for 27th July.

So to Clarify:

13th July Cosford Rugby

20th July Delapre Northampton

27th July West Lodge Centre Desboro

Paul Brown organiser of Fridays race has been in touch and unfortunately the race at West lodge visitor centre has had to be cancelled.

An Inspection of the Land tonight (monday) has shown that even at this early stage its not possible to even get onto some areas to cut the very long grass, and the area of wood is under water in many places. The Owner felt the race areas would be very badly damaged (its visited daily by many children) and requested a postponement to prevent this.

Although this is very unfortunate especially on top of Last Fridays sudden cancellation of the Cosford round, it's a result of whats already the wettest June month on record, and the wettest month ever in some parts combined with our regions clay soil and high water table.

Both Organisers are doing all they can to re-schedule the races if possible and any pre-entries can be re-used or returned, you will have to contact the event organisers, details on the entry form for more details at present. More news when we have it.

Please tell anyone you know of this cancellation, hopefully we can spread the word fast and prevent anyone wasting a journey to the event.

Nobody wants a repaet of this, action from last weekends 24Hr racing.
