EventRound 8 Delapre Park NorthamptonApr 20, '07 9:12 AM
by Jack for everyone
Start:     Jul 20, '07 7:15p
Unfortunately after 2 years and no trouble a couple of loud mouthed Nimbys on the local council have prevented Treads from using Irchester Country Park this year.
Because of this they have found an alternative bvenue at Delapre Park.
More Details to follow with directions when we get them.

I have heard that the Irchester Country Park cannot be used due to the complaints from the dog walkers. I'm not sure if Treads have found an alternative venue?

Treads alternative venue is now Delapre park, more details to follow when we have them.

Treads here.
All the paperwork for the Delapre race is now complete with the Borough Council so we are clear to go. There is plenty of parking in front of Delapre Abbey which is accessed from the driveway at the bottom of London Road (A508) heading into Northampton from the A45. The Abbey Tea Rooms has agreed to stay open for the evening so there'll be Sandwiches, Jacket Spuds and some top cake available before after and during the race. It's been a bit of a rush to replace Irchester, but we think you'll enjoy this one just as much. See you all there.

Brilliant, I'll put up a headline story to encourage people to use the Tea room if possible after your stirling efforts.

Does the course go up the spinney and through the woods at the top? I hope it does as this will be the only chance for a good climb. It will get interesting in the woods if we do go up there as it is due to rain tomorrow and the ground is clay up there! The ground is fairly dry at the mo tho.

Yes, the course does go up the side of London Road and into the woods. There are a couple of good shorter climbs and a twisty downhill section through pines which keep the ground quite dry.

Here's hoping that the worst of what's promised misses us.

Just off now to start the marking out.

############### ITS CANCELLED #########

Unbelievable, these guys are having no luck. Just been on the phone to me and Neil to spread the word that its dropped several inches in Northampton and forecast to carry on all evening and the course is already resembling a river in many places.
Apart from the fact that the course is un-rideable they dont want to wreck the park on this first event there.
PLEASE phone or inform as may other riders/mates as possible to stop any wasted journeys
